Paying it forward will be the theme of the night when the Penticton Vees hit the ice on Friday.

Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and cash in support of the local Salvation Army when they attend the Vees' game against the Blackfalds Bulldogs on Nov. 1, at the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC).

In partnership with Market Place IGA, the team is hosting "Feed the Need" night.

"For every 10 pounds of food you donate, you will receive a ballot to enter a draw for a $1,000 gift card from Market Place IGA," the BCHL club said in an event announcement.

Donations are also being collected for Summerland food banks.

Also on Friday, Market Place IGA is hosting a hot dog barbecue, by donation, outside the SOEC from 4 to 7 p.m.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with puck drop slated for 7 p.m.

The Vees' showdown with the Bulldogs precedes a star-studded contest at the SOEC on Saturday when Penticton hosts the first-place Brooks Bandits. Puck drop is at 6 p.m.
