Small fire in Penticton apartment building quickly extinguished

No one was injured and the residents were able to evacuate safely

Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire in an apartment building on Penticton’s Van Horne Street on Dec. 8 before it could spread. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. (Logan Lockhart - Western News)

A small fire in a Penticton apartment building was quickly extinguished on Dec. 8.

The Penticton Fire Department responded after the fire on Van Horne Street was reported around 1:15 p.m.

Seven firefighters responded to quickly extinguish the fire before it could spread.

All of the occupants of the apartment unit were able to evacuate safely.

The firefighters remained on scene after extinguishing the fire to clear out the remaining smoke and make sure it was safe for the residents to return.

The cause of the fire is not currently known and is under investigation.
