Beach volleyball takes centre stage at Penticton Peach Festival

Third annual beach volleyball tournament returns to Skaha Lake Park

For the third year in a row, the beloved Penticton Peach Festival brought the party to Skaha Lake Park for a community-wide beach volleyball tournament.

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Penticton served up another edition of its annual sports event on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Twelve teams played within the "competitive" division, with several other local squads opting to play in the non-competitive format.

Playoff games for the co-ep tournament began late Saturday afternoon, with champions in each division expected to be crowned Sunday.

But volleyball players aren't the only athletes celebrating Peachfest this weekend.

Lion's Park is currently hosting the 21st annual Sheila Bishop Slo-Pitch Tournament, which wraps up Sunday.

Also set to close out the weekend is the Across the Lake Swim, a multi-kilometre event on Skaha Lake. Some participants early on Sunday will swim from Penticton to Okanagan Falls.

The RPR Heating & Air Conditioning PeachDuro wraps up the activities when it invites cyclists for a race along the Three Blind Mice trail.

A full Peachfest scheduled can be found here.
