Recently on July 13 and 14 the Penticton Lawn Bowls Club hosted their annual tournament, known locally as ‘the Bonney Cup’. This annual memorial tournament is named for Harry Bonney and Jean Bonney-Runicles, who were staunch supporters of The Penticton Lawn Bowls Club.
This much-anticipated event saw 40 hardy souls from up and down the Okanagan Valley brave the blistering heat, to compete against each other, in a mixed pairs format.
After each competing in 3 games on Saturday, teams were ranked into three flights for Sunday’s play. The final winners were:
A Division:
1st Place: Paul Dube & Yvonne Field (Osoyoos)
2nd Place: Kevin Barry & Bev Marling (Penticton)
3rd Place: Maria Fugedi & Wayne LaFace (Kelowna)
B Division:
1st Place: Patrick Martin & Claudia Sauder (Kelowna, Osoyoos)
2nd Place: Robert Gabert & Chris Pingle (Penticton)
3rd: Ron Delgado & Thea Lemke (Penticton)
C Division:
1st Place: Fritz Hollenbach & Claire Keys (Penticton)
2nd Place: Wayne Lewis & Gladys Netherton (Penticton)
3rd Place: Guy Bradfield &Leslie Campbell (Osoyoos)
Two lucky winners also took home gift baskets donated by our sponsors Cherry Park Retirement Centre.
