Penticton Vees set to host special Remembrance Day game

Veterans and active service members of the Canadian Armed Forces will get into the rink for free when Penticton Vees play their next home game.

The BCHL club is hosting a special Remembrance Day contest on Monday, Nov. 11, when it hosts the Trail Smoke Eaters at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Admission is free for veterans and active service members, with ticket pickup happening at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 40, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The 788 Dragoons Royal Canadian Army Cadets and 259 Panther Royal Canadian Air Cadets will be included during a pregame ceremony. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m.

There are two Remembrance Day ceremonies in Penticton before the Vees hit the ice Monday.

An indoor gathering at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre will commence at 10:45 a.m., while an outdoor cenotaph ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park will begin at 10:30 a.m.
