Penticton Vees start four-game home set with 2-1 overtime win

With a 2-1 overtime win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Wednesday night, the Penticton Vees head into the second of their four-game home set on Saturday with a a match against the Victoria Grizzlies.

By the end of the game, the Vees’ 32 shots on net compared to the Bulldogs’ 18

The crowd of 1,974 people in the arena included local veterans, who receieved free tickets to the game and were recognized on the Vees’ Veterans’ Night ahead of Remembrance Day.

After a scoreless first period, the Vees opened up the scoring with a power play goal from Josh Nadeau, the only shot out of 11 in the period to find the back of the net.

The Bulldogs came back in the third period, sorcing less than three minutes and outshooting the Vees 7-1 in the first 12 minutes.

In overtime, it was a rebound off a shot from Bradley Nadeau that Josh picked up for his second goal of the night.

On Saturday Night, the Vees honour the Inidgenous community with their Orange Shirt Game. Fans are encouraged to wear orange to the game in support. The puck drops at the South Okanagan Events Centre at 6 p.m.
