An "integral part" of Surrey Eagles' championship team from last season is coming to Penticton.

The Vees have acquired Ryden Evers from the Sherwood Park Crusaders in exchange for future considerations, the club announced Aug. 3. Surrey traded Evers' playing rights to Sherwood Park earlier in the offseason.

“Ryden brings size, skill, and championship experience," said Fred Harbinson, the Vees' president, general manager and head coach.

"He was an integral part of Surrey stopping us two wins shy of winning three BCHL championships in a row."

The Eagles topped the Vees 4-2 in the best-of-seven Fred Page Cup Finals in May 2024.

Evers, 19, posted 53 points in as many games during the regular season, before suiting up in 10 playoff contests and helping Surrey capture its first league title since 2013.

The Burnaby product was also the recipient of the Bob Fenton Trophy, awarded annually to the league’s most sportsmanlike player.

Evers' new club kicks off training camp later this month at the South Okanagan Events Centre, ahead of the 2024-2025 BCHL campaign.

“I look forward to working with Ryden and preparing him ready for the next level," Harbinson said.
