Another edition of the Vancouver Canucks' Young Stars Classic has come to an end in Penticton.
This year's tournament — also featuring top prospects from the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Winnipeg Jets — precedes Canucks' training camp, which comes to the South Okanagan Events Centre from Sept. 19 to 22.
Vancouver's roster this past weekend was headlined by Jonathan Lekkerimäki, a 2022 first-round pick of the club, and 23-year-old Arshdeep Bains, a B.C.-born product who's starred with the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks over the past two seasons. The team went 3-0, capping its weekend off with a 4-3 comeback victory over Calgary.
Members of the Canucks' NHL roster are arriving in Penticton this week for the start of training camp.
Western Canada's other three NHL clubs, meanwhile, also sent their top prospects to the SOEC from Sept. 13 to 16.
The Oilers and Flames drew among the weekend's largest crowd for the popular Battle of Alberta game on Saturday night, Sept. 14.
