It's been just over four months since the Penticton Vees played a meaningful game at the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC), but the defending Interior Conference champions are back Friday, Oct. 4, to host the Okotoks Oilers.
The Vees' home opener is set for 7 p.m., as the club returns to B.C. after starting its season on a four-game road trip in Alberta.
Penticton (3-1-0-0) used victories over Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park, and Blackfalds.
The undefeated Brooks Bandits handed the Vees their first loss of 2024-2025 BCHL campaign.
Fans at the SOEC on Friday can expect to watch a pre-game ceremony, with special player introductions. The club's 2024 Interior Conference championship banner will also be highlighted during the festivities.
Okotoks (1-3-0-0) lost its first three games of the new season before topping the Cranbrook Bucks 8-5 on Sept. 28.
Friday marks the first-ever meeting between the Vees and Oilers.
It also marks the home debut of Eli McKamey, the 15-year-old winger who became the first player in BCHL history to be granted exceptional status.
The Vancouver Island product has one goal in four games this season.
Atop the Vees' scoring list in the early goings of the campaign are Anselmo Rego (five points) and Landon Wright and Ryden Evers with four points each.
After its home opener, Penticton will head to the North Okanagan on Saturday, Oct. 5, to visit the Vernon Vipers.
