Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen: Area E - Naramata
Director
Tim Hodgkinson: A seasoned resident of Naramata and single dad of two young children (William 8yrs and Scarlett 3yrs), I know how lucky we are to live in a safe, clean and beautiful environment. However, Naramata is undergoing significant growth that’s creating fundamental change. The growth brings many benefits (not least financial) but it needs to be managed. Important community issues such as large development projects, water ‘run-off and shut-off’ issues, KVR access rights and inadequate services in fire prevention, snow removal, road maintenance, cell coverage and public transportation, need addressing. I’d like to be a voice ‘for’ the community that manages the growth but protects and safeguards ‘the magic’ that makes Naramata so special.
Karla Kozakevich: I was born and raised in Penticton, moving to Naramata in 2005. I attended Simon Fraser University on a varsity field hockey scholarship, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Sciences. For the past seven years I worked as the Electoral Area E Director and am also the current RDOS Board Chair.
Prior to being elected, I was Alternate Director for Area E and attended numerous RDOS and community meetings in preparation for the 2011 election and continue to attend Naramata parks, water and planning meetings. I am Vice-Chair of the Okanagan Regional Library Board and Chair of Policy, Chair of the Southern Interior Municipal Employers’ Association and 2nd Vice President of the Southern Interior Local Government Association.
During my time as Area Director, much work has taken place to replace aging drinking water pipes with a large portion of the funding being provided through Federal & Provincial grants. We need to continue to replace pipes that are 50+ years old. Park upgrades will continue to take place in the coming years.
