Over the course of one day, 27 violation tickets for speeding within school zones were handed out in Penticton.

RCMP said officers with the Community Safety and Enforcement Team were out in full force downtown and in school zones on Jan. 16.

“Subsequent to complaints from concerned parents about speeding within school zones, our CSET team responded. Several drivers were found to be excess of 20 kilometres above posted 30 km per hour speed limit,” said Const. James Grandy.

In addition to enforcing speed limits with the school zones, RCMP continued to conduct high visibility foot and vehicle patrols within the downtown core. Grandy said the pro-active enforcement will continue in the downtown core and other areas of the city.
