3 care homes in the South Okanagan declare COVID-19 outbreaks

Confirmed cases have been reported at LTC facilities in Penticton, Summerland and Osoyoos

Three long term care homes in the South Okanagan have declared COVID-19 outbreaks since Jan. 16.

Interior Health (IH) reported outbreaks at Westview Place in Penticton and Summerland Seniors Village on Jan. 16. A long-term care facility in Osoyoos, Mariposa Gardens, declared a COVID-19 outbreak on Jan. 18.

Information regarding the number of staff or residents involved has not been provided. In the past, number of staff and residents who have tested positive were listed as well if there were any deaths at the home.

Facilities are removed from IH’s list when the outbreak is over.

As of Jan. 20, Village at Smith Creek in West Kelowna and Mount Ida Mews Salmon Arm also appear on IH’s COVID-19 list.

IH is currently listing outbreaks at health facilities that go back to Dec. 30.
