UPDATE: Man dies in forestry road crash

A driver crashed his vehicle into a tree on the Brenda Mine Forest Service Road.

UPDATE: July 25

The man who crashed his vehicle into a tree, on Brenda Mine Forest Service Road, died at the scene.

According to Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey witnesses to the crash are credited with calling 911, pulling the man from the vehicle and performing life saving measures until emergency crews arrived.

“Sadly, despite the tireless efforts of the group of Good Samaritans and both the ground and airborne medical crews, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said O’Donaghey.

Early indications suggest speed may have been a factor in the crash.

The 53-year-old was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Police continue to investigate.

Peachland fire crews had to make way for BC Air Ambulance to land on a forest service road after a driver crashed their vehicle into a tree.

According to Peachland Fire Chief Dennis Craig the incident happened about 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of the Brenda Mine service road and the Silver Lake turnoff, near Highway 97C.

“We were not required to remove the patient from the vehicle, as he had already been removed by bystanders on the scene,” said Craig.

There was only one occupant in the vehicle that crashed into the tree off the dirt road.

It’s unclear what caused the driver to crash.

More to come.
