An effort to evaluate how thoroughly the Penticton Western News is reaching its readers is to be the subject of an automated telephone audit.

While the calls will be coming from a U.S. based phone number, PWN circulation manager Sue Kovacs said the survey of Penticton Western News households is not spam.

It’s a circulation survey for both Penticton and the distribution region we service for Black Press.

“These are legitimate phone calls,” Kovacs said. “It’s part of our continuing way of making sure that our newspapers are being delivered. It’s quality control.”

Alliance for Audited Media – a non-profit, member based organization that provides independently verified data and information services – is to collect the audit between the dates of April 3 through April 10, reaching out to approximately 10 per cent of households in the Western News’ distribution area.

Respondents will be asked if they regularly receive a free copy of the PWN. Those who don’t, will be asked if anyone in their household has ever asked for delivery to be stopped.

Live follow up calls will be made to households where there is no answer or a hang up.
