The road to Apex has been reopened.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s (MOTI) avalanche team today completed avalanche control work on Apex Mountain Rd., between Green Mountain Rd. and Apex Mountain Resort.

After the avalanche was activated the road was cleared by the ministry’s maintenance contractor and has since reopened.

The avalanche work was originally scheduled for yesterday afternoon, but was rescheduled due to difficult weather conditions.

Traffic was stopped in a safe location before the control team triggered the avalanche with explosives. The ministry asks that drivers continue to obey traffic control personnel.

MOTI’s avalanche program monitors weather and snowpack conditions throughout the avalanche season, covering more than 60 areas around the province, including approx. 1,400 paths.
