Getting to and from Penticton’s signature just got a whole lot easier.
BC Transit, in partnership with the City of Penticton, is extending service hours until past 11:40 p.m. every night during the Peach Festival, set for Aug. 9 to 13.
Route 5 (Main Street), leaving from Martin Street and Lakeshore Drive, will see its last bus hit the road at 11:42 p.m., BC Transit said in an announcement.
Trips on this route will detour slightly during the festival, with the provincial transit service adding a temporary stop on Veterans Way near Lakeshore Drive.
The detour will be in place after 7 p.m., from Aug. 9 to 12, and in effect during all service hours on Sunday, Aug. 13.
BC Transit’s full route schedule in Penticton can be found here.
The 76th annual edition of Peachfest kicks off at 9 a.m. on Aug. 9.
Canadian rock icon Kim Mitchell takes the stage at Okanagan Lake Park later that night, to wrap up the festival’s opening slate.
The full schedule can be found here.
Event organizers said this week they’re in need of more volunteers.
Watching barricades and cleaning parks are the positions that are “desperately needed,” they said.
