Body discovered by Oliver RCMP

The identity of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Police have deemed the discovery of a body near the shore of Saw Mill Lake in Oliver as suspicious.

On June 7, at 3 p.m., Oliver RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance discovering the body of a woman at the scene. RCMP said a person of interest was taken into custody and investigators do not believe there to be any danger to the public. On Monday, Const. Kris Clark said the person of interest has since been released.

The identity of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit with assistance from South Okanagan Detachment and B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate. Anyone with information about this is asked to call the Oliver RCMP at 250-498-3422 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
