One person remained in custody as of Tuesday morning in connection with the interrupted break and enter of a residence in the 400-block of Young Street July 4.

According to Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth a resident of a neighbouring unit heard banging and notified police.

Upon arriving officers noticed the front door had been pried open and found a male inside allegedly with a number of items in his possession, including a child’s piggy bank.

The suspect, identified as Matthew Toker, 41 of Fairview Road, then reportedly tried to flee out the back patio door and after a brief struggle with police was taken into custody.

He has since appeared in court on a charge of break and enter with intent and possession of a controlled substance.
