Kelowna Fire Department knocks down Rail Trail bush blaze

People were staying in the bush near where the fire started

Update 11:30 a.m.

Crews remain on the scene of two small bushfires near Leckie Road and Dilworth Drive.

Kelowna Fire Department Platoon Captain Micah Volk said it looked like people were staying in the bush near where the fire started.

"We're just working on some hot spots right now," Volk noted that the cause is under investigation. "There's a larger tree that's been damaged, so we'll probably need a city arborist to look at that to make sure it's safe."

No injuries were reported.

Black smoke could be seen rising from the area just before 11 a.m. prior to the fire crew's arrival.
