A 42-year-old Penticton man is scheduled to appear in provincial court Thursday, in connection with the alleged confinement and sexual assault of his 19-year-old ex girlfriend.

According to Penticton RCMP Sgt. Rick Dellebuur, the alleged incident took place Sunday.

Dellebuur said after the alleged attack the suspect is believed to have taken some pills and became unconscious.

At that point, the victim got free and drove herself and the male back to Penticton from the remote area and called police.

RCMP attended their location about 3 a.m. Monday and the male was transported to Penticton Regional Hospital where he remained under guard until Tuesday morning.

After being discharged from the hospital, the man was taken to the Penticton detachment where he remains in custody.

Dellebuur said RCMP are considering numerous charges.
