Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather statement for Thanksgiving Monday affecting the Okanagan Valley. Ahead of a cold front, strong and gusty winds are expected to start later this afternoon which could toss loose objects around or down weakened tree branches.

As strong weather can sometimes cause power outages, residents are reminded about the resources available on the City’s website describing how to prepare for and what to do if your power goes out. You will also find a map providing the current status of power outages in the city.

Remember, in most cases, power is restored within a few hours. The city will provide information for outages that are expected to take longer to resolve.

Winds of up to 70 km/h are expected by late afternoon.

The storm is expected to subside by the late evening.
