Connor Reilly writes about Vees getting into RBC Cup final

Vees forward Connor Reilly blogs his perspective on the 3-0 win against the Soo Thunderbirds that now gives them a chance to win the RBC Cup

We have punched our ticket to the RBC cup final.

We defeated the Soo Thunderbirds 3-0.  They made a tough effort as once again their goaltender had a strong game, however they couldn't stop us.  Wade Murphy (Ward) opened the scoring as Kyle Beaulieu took a slap shot from the point where Lucia then took a shot off the rebound. Wade eventually buried the final rebound.

The second period we had a few too many penalties, but we had a great penalty kill led by (Michael) Garteig.  Logan Johnston put us up 2-0 when Travis St. Denis made a great individual effort as he dangled a guy who stole the puck from him, and dished the puck under the goalies stick to Logan Johnston who buried the puck five-hole.  We had a great third as we stayed disciplined and played a strong defensive game.  Curtis Loik finished the game off on an empty netter.  Hats off to Soo as they played a tough tournament and game.

Tomorrow we play the Woodstock Slammers.  The big, bad Humboldt Broncos lost in an overtime thriller where undisciplined hockey ultimately cost them.  It's what we were all brought here to do.  To not only make it to the title game, but to win it. All the weight training, hard but developmental practices, all the recruiting and most importantly all the hard work we have put in comes down to this.  I'll tell you this, we are ready and excited.  We will cherish the moment and play to our best abilities.  It will be the last game we will ever play together (not me, of course).  Tomorrow is when history will be made.
