Environment Canada has put a snowfall warning in effect for two major Okanagan highways.

The Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt and Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton is expecting 15-20 centimetres of snow throughout the day on Friday, Dec. 1 and into Saturday morning.

Flurries are expected to become heavy snow throughout the night and become flurries again mid-day Saturday.

“Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult,” said Environment Canada. “Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”

Weathers can change suddenly in the mountains, making roads hazardous.
