Village by the Station long-term care home in Penticton has 10 cases of COVID-19, according to Interior Health.
Eight residents and two staff have tested positive. There have been no deaths related to the outbreak.
There are now nine long-term care homes in Interior Health with COVID outbreaks that have resulted in over a dozen deaths.
Cottonwoods Care Centre in Kelowna has 41 cases: 30 residents and 11 staff, with six deaths connected to the outbreak.
Booster third doses are now being offered to people with severely compromised immune systems and will be delivered to seniors in care facilities in October. Those seniors were the top priority when vaccination began in B.C. late in 2020.
“Starting next week, we will be providing a booster dose for residents of long-term care and assisted living. We know that our seniors and elders have carried a heavy burden. We continue to see cases in these homes,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry on Tuesday.
In December 2020, McKinney Place in Oliver faced one of the most challenging and prolonged outbreaks in B.C.
By the time, the outbreak was declared over Jan. 18, there were 78 COVID-19 cases linked to this outbreak: 55 residents and 23 staff. A total of 17 residents have died due to the illness.
