One of the critical fundraisers for the OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre has also been cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The seventh annual Wildstone Colours4Kids Run was slated for June 14, with registration scheduled to begin April 1.

Julie Read, manager of people and culture for Wildstone made the announcement March 19 saying their number one priority is the health and safety of sponsors, participants and volunteers.

Last year’s event attracted over 800 people to the Riverside Drive site of the run and raised a record $20,500, all of which went to the centre.

The money was generated from entry fees, silent auction and other by-donation activities.

Special guest in 2019 was National Hockey League great Scott Niedermayer who is now living in Penticton and brought along a variety of items for the auction and signed autographs for his many fans. Other special guests at previous runs included NHLer Duncan Keith of the Chicago Black Hawks and Cody Kearsley, a cast member of the television series Riverdale.

The then high school student, Sinclaire Lovett, began the event in 2013 in memory of her late sister Bronwyn who passed away the year before at the age of 18 and who had attended OSNS for several years.

Wildstone took over sponsorship and organization of the event when Sinclaire left for post-secondary school in Victoria a few years later.

Read thanked everyone for their ongoing support of the fundraiser and hoped to see them at future runs.
