City of Penticton has three mayoral candidates and 25 council candidates for the upcoming municipal election.

There are going to be a lot of choices for Penticton voters to make on the municipal election day, Nov. 15.

As the nomination period came to a close on Oct. 10, three people had declared they were running for mayor: John Vassilaki, a 12-year veteran of council; Andrew Jakubeit, in his second year on council; and Jukka Laurio, who ran for mayor in 2011, but withdrew after his criminal record became public knowledge.

But the race for the six council seats is where there are really some choices. Twenty-five community members came forward to run for the six council seats, beating out 2011 by a large margin, when 19 candidates ran for mayor and council.
