A man is in Kelowna General Hospital with “extensive serious trauma” after he was involved in an ATV crash near Oliver early Thursday morning.

Oliver RCMP said a motorist spotted a 47-year-old man, who has not been identified, lying on the pavement at 3 a.m. on Highway 97 between Oliver and Osoyoos. The driver transported the man to the South Okanagan General Hospital’s emergency department.

Police located the scene of an ATV crash, and a traffic analyst found evidence the ATV lost control and flipped. No helmet was found at the scene.

“The male suffered extensive serious trauma to his upper body, head and is currently in the Kelowna General Hospital,” Sgt. Blaine Gervais said in a news release.
