As per the start of the holiday season, an extra week of garbage and recycling collection is coming to Penticton.

The city issued a reminder on Thursday morning about its garbage and recycling curbside program during the conclusion of the month.

Waste will be picked up for three consecutive weeks from Dec. 13-31, with the city adding an extra week of recycling amid the holiday season.

When placing out recycling, the city reminds residents to clean and rinse all containers. Items like toys, electronics, Christmas lights, ribbons and bows and foil wrap will not be accepted.

“To ensure your waste is collected, please place your carts at their designated collection point by 7 a.m.,” the city said.

Extra garbage or recycling will only be accepted with the purchase of a tag-a-bag sticker from City Hall, City Yards or the Community Centre.

The city asks that you visit penticton.ca/recycling or send an email to publicworks@penticton.ca to learn more information about Penticton’s recycling program during the holidays.
