House fire on Highway 3A in Keremeos

Neighbours acted quickly to help save home

Quick acting neighbours saved a home from going up in flames in Keremeos Sunday night.

According to Keremeos fire chief Jordy Bosscha, neighbours called in the blaze around 7:30 p.m. The home is located on Highway 3A and Middle Bench Road.

“It was a good save. We were able to contain the fire to the porch so the owners will be able to continue to live there,” said Bosscha. Power was restored to the house Monday morning.

If the neighbours hadn’t seen the flames and called it in right away, it could have been much worse.

The owners weren’t home at the time of the blaze, he said.

The fire department continues to investigate the cause of the blaze.
