The award recognizes a member who embraces leadership in fostering cooperation between public and private sectors in addressing housing issues.

“The silver award is a magnificent milestone for Hunters Hill and the District of Summerland,” a statement from Hunters Hill reads. The award recognizes a member of the building association who embraces leadership in fostering cooperation between public and private sectors in addressing housing issues.

Hunters Hill is working on seven phases of housing, overlooking Okanagan Lake in Summerland. The development is creating a new housing development within a preservation area master plan to preserve open spaces and environmental values.

Summerland mayor Toni Boot said the development will add to Summerland’s supply of housing.

“The Hunters Hill team has worked closely with district staff to develop in a manner that values and respects the land, the environment and the small-town atmosphere of Summerland,” she said.

The Canadian Home Builders Association was formed in 1943. Its awards, formerly known as the Tommie Awards, have been presented for more than 28 years to recognize excellence in design, development, construction and marketing of residential and commercial projects.
