Hydrant struck in OK Falls on Dec. 28

Volunteer firefighters worked quickly to stop the resulting geyser on Main St.

A fire hydrant was reportedly struck last night in Okanagan Falls, creating a geyser near Main St. and down Maple St.

At about 10 p.m. on Dec. 28, Facebook users posted in the Penticton group noting that there was flooding near the Esso gas station on Main St.

As of 9 a.m. on Dec. 29, the water and ice from the broken hydrant have been cleaned up. Members of the Okanagan Falls Volunteer Fire Department were not available to comment on any future repairs the hydrant may need.
