Information meeting for Oliver fire called

An information meeting will be held at 3 p.m. at the Oliver Community Centre.

An information meeting will be held at 3 p.m. at the Oliver Community Centre to update the media and public on the Testalinden Creek and Wilsons Mountain fires.

BC Wildfire officials and local government representatives will be on hand to discuss the fires which started on Friday evening and the evacuation orders in the area.

The Testalinden Creek fire is now estimated to be 1,556 hectares and the evacuation order is still in effect. A total of 43 firefighters and three helicopters are attacking the fire along with heavy equipment.

Resources within the Kamloops Fire Centre and across the province continue to be deployed to the Testalinden Creek fire and the Wilson Mountain Road Fire, also burning near Oliver. It is estimated to be 200 ha in size. Additional resources are being relocated. Structural protection units are in place. Personnel worked overnight and continue efforts today.
