B.C. Corrections adds three sessions for people interested in working as guards at the Okanagan Correctional Centre

.B.C. Corrections has announced three additional orientation sessions for people interested in working as guards at the new Okanagan jail.

Previously scheduled sessions held in Osoyoos, Oliver and Penticton were well-received, with 290 people attending the initial two-hour orientation sessions and just over 200 attending or registered for the more in-depth readiness sessions,” B.C. Corrections said in a press release.

Each session, held in partnership with the Justice Institute of B.C., provides an overview of correctional work, such as culture, safety and security.

The added sessions are: Nov. 22, 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Justice Institute, Kelowna. To register, call 604-462-5170, or email recruiter.occ@gov.bc.ca with REGISTER in the subject line. Include your first and second session choices and contact information in the body of the email.

More sessions are tentatively planned for the spring.
