Current councillor Jeremy Evans has joined Arden Holly in filing to run for re-election in Keremeos.

The two councillors will be the only incumbents in the council race, as councillor Jason Wiebe is running for mayor and Sherry Philpott-Adhikary is retiring for personal reasons.

Evans, who has served on council for 26 years since 1995. He has also served 21 years as a member of the Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department.

The four current councillors were all elected in 2014 and acclaimed in 2018 to serve a second term.

With Holly and Evans running for re-election, that still leaves two empty seats without any candidates to fill.

The final day for candidates to declare for the coming municipal election is 4 p.m. on Sept. 9.
