More charges have been filed against an Abbotsford man who crashed through the gate at Riverside RV Park Resort in February.
A resident of the park noticed a bag after the incident on February 9 and contacted police.
The police found sawed of semi-automatic 22 guns, a large quantities of drugs and cash in the bag, Cpl. Brian Evans of the RCMP detachment said.
“Through forensic work we were able to link the bag to the man that resulted in several new charges being laid against him,” he said.
The incident all started when Gary Richard, 36, allegedly provided a fake name to RCMP when he stopped at a roadside check point near the fire hall in Keremeos on Feb 9 around 7:45 p.m.
Richard was driving a newer black BMW SUV.
He sped off west along Highway 3 at an extremely high rate of speed, Evans said several days after the incident.
Keremeos officers didn’t chase after the vehicle as it was deemed a safety hazard but called ahead to Princeton RCMP to keep an eye out for the vehicle.
Shortly after Richard sped off, a call came in from the Riverside RV Park Resort saying a man smashed through the entrance gate.
Keremeos RCMP attended the scene to find Richard in his vehicle in the park.
He was arrested without further incident.
Richard is facing a number of charges including breach of probation, possession of a firearm contrary to order, mischief, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, drug related charges and driving while prohibited.
Richard remains in custody.
