The South Okanagan Kin Club will be holding it’s seventh annual Rubber Duck Race down the Penticton Channel on Saturday, May 6.

Ducks drop at 11 a.m. from the bridge at Green Mountain Road. The finish is at the new bridge crossing. Depending on the current, the winning ducks could cross the finish line anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes after they are dropped.

This year they have partnered with the following youth groups to sell tickets: Princeton High School band program, Cawston Koyotes U18B Fastball, Penticton Minor Lacrosse, 778 Army Cadets (Penticton), Summerland Jr Curling Program, Girl Guides - Summerland, Summerland Minor Fastball, Westside Minor Fastball and Kelowna Heat U18B Fastball. The youth groups receive a donation of $4 for every $5 ticket they sell.

The first prize is $1,000, second prize wins $500 and there will be 10 random $50 prizes.

Thanks to the first prize sponsorship from Gateway Casinos and Entertainment (Cascades Casino Penticton) the Kin Club are also able to make donations to Penticton Regional Hospital and the Kinsmen Foundation of B.C. The Kinsmen Foundation provides medical equipment and devices to physically disabled adults throughout B.C., allowing them to live more independently.

The Kin Club are accepting applications from eligible youth groups throughout the South Okanagan to participate in next year’s race. Information can be requested by emailing info@sokin.ca

Representatives from Gateway Casino will be on hand at the race to present a sponsorship cheque, and the winners of the race will be announced at the finish line.
