Lightning-caused wildfire west of Okanagan Falls considered held

A wildfire that sparked west of Okanagan Falls on Wednesday, June 28, is now classified as being held.

The Kearns Creek wildfire — located about 14 kilometres south of Penticton and two kilometres west of Okanagan Falls — is currently 0.3 hectares in size.

BC Wildfire Service says lightning is the suspected cause of the blaze.

Fire information officer Aydan Coray says there are currently seven BCWS personnel on scene, as of Thursday afternoon, June 29.
