Interior Health will be monitoring low attendance at Similkameen Elementary Secondary (SES) in Keremeos.
Families of SES were sent a letter home Jan. 21 about low attendance patterns at the school.
The principal wrote that the attendance levels will be monitored to see if any next steps need to be taken.
Osoyoos Elementary and Tuc-el-Nuit Elementary in Oliver have both met the threshold for low attendance this week.
Last week, three schools in School District 67 were sent home letters for low attendance leading to Interior Health getting involved.
A school is only closed when there aren’t enough staff.
A functional closure of a school is the temporary closure of a school due to a lack of staff to provide the required level of teaching, supervision, support, and/or custodial to ensure the health and safety of students, said the B.C. government.
So far, only Armstrong Elementary has closed due to lack of staffing.
