A man is in the hospital after being airlifted out of the Skaha Bluffs on Thursday afternoon.

The man in his 30s from Nova Scotia was in the area with backcountry recreational guides when he suffered a suspected broken leg.

Penticton Search and Rescue manager Richard Terry said they received a request from the BC Ambulance service at noon on Thursday. Terry advised the use of the long line, or HETS, team.

Two HETS team members were dispatched to the scene where the man was airlifted back to the Penticton airport, and taken to Penticton Regional Hospital via ambulance.
