A trial is set to take place for the man accused of an assault and a stabbing that occurred separately in Summerland.

Joshua James Doell, 40, pleaded not guilty to charges of assault causing bodily harm and aggravated assault on Wednesday.

Doell elected to be tried before a Provincial Court judge.

Doell remains in custody after he was unable to pay his $2,500 bail which was set on Dec. 22.

Doell’s defence counsel Norm Yates suggested a half-day trial, while Crown disagreed, planning a total of 13 witnesses and estimating a two to three-day trial.

A pre-trial conference was set for Monday, Jan. 11 in Penticton Provincial Court. Doell will be excused from the hearing.
