Man climbs out window to escape Penticton structure fire

An early morning structure fire in Penticton forced an occupant to jump out the window to escape it.

At 12:39 a.m. (June 3) Penticton Fire Department responded to a mobile home on fire, on Green Mountain Road close to Sumac Lane.

“He (occupant) had climbed out the window, and injured himself doing do,” explained Penticton Fire Department deputy chief Chris Forster.

“The ambulance took him up to the hospital. He was the only person there, and the only injury.”

The fire, Forster explained, was not significant in nature. Crews were able to knock down the fire, and hand the scene over to PIB Fire Rescue.
