People will no longer be required to wear masks when visiting City of Penticton facilities beginning on Friday (March 11).
The update comes in response to the latest provincial health news conference, in which Dr. Bonnie Henry and minister of health Adrian Dix announced the lifting of mask mandates in indoor public spaces.

Penticton City Hall, City Yards, Bylaw Services Office, library, museum and archives, McClaren Arena, Cleland Theatre and the Community Centre were listed as the local facilities in which face coverings will no longer be required.
“Face coverings will be optional in all indoor city facilities and residents may want to continue wearing a mask based on personal choice,” they added in a statement on Thursday.
Proof of vaccination to access events will continue to be required until April 8, a date consistent with the province’s latest announcement where they will drop vaccine passports.
Settings like health-care facilities, doctors’ offices and patient contact areas will still require people to wear masks, until further notice.
Capacity restrictions were previously lifted at Penticton venues on Feb. 16, with city council returning to in-person meetings on March 1.
