Penticton Western News is taking a look at the many different vendors and farmers that make up the Penticton Farmers’ Market.

Returning to the market, this week the focus is on Similkameen Apiaries.

Cheryl Tarves and her husband have been operating the apiary for 35 years.

“We’ve been coming to this market for 27 years,” said Tarves. “We’ve been coming for a long, long time to this market.”

The couple have their bees throughout the entire Okanagan Valley, and bring a variety of honey, from plain to creamed, as well beeswax candles to the market. But it’s their honey that is the focus of what they bring to sell every week.

“What we produce is the Similkameen Honey,” said Tarves, “and we’re the only ones that really produce only Similkameen Honey.”

For more, take a look at the video feature on Similkameen Apiaries, or check them, and the many other featured farmers, at the Penticton Farmers’ Market every Saturday in Downtown Penticton.
