UPDATE: Trans-Canada open after fatal crash east of Revelstoke

DriveBC says road conditions remain compact snow and slippery sections

Highway 1 reopened just before midnight Dec. 16 after it was closed yesterday afternoon due to fatal crash.

RCMP confirmed that a 52 year old man from B.C. succumbed to his injuries, while the driver of the east bound commercial vehicle was not injured.

Police were called to the scene at 3:40 p.m. The incident involved a semi truck and sedan.

Although the investigation is ongoing, the initial indication is that the sedan cross the centre line, on a curve, on a two-way section of the highway.

The accident was between Mount Revelstoke National Park and Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk just 18 km east of Revelstoke.

See DriveBC for information on road closures and highway conditions.
