Three people taken to Interior hospitals

Three people were taken to hospital following a late afternoon collision on the Trans-Canada Highway near Greer Road.

The accident involving three vehicles took place at approximately 4 p.m. Thursday, July 20 in front of the Blind Bay Golf Course.

RCMP say an eastbound 2011 Dodge pickup truck driven by a 63-year-old Salmon Arm resident hydro-planed during a downpour.

The driver lost control of the truck and ended up in the path of a westbound 2010 GMC Sierrs pickup driven by a 21-year-old woman from Alberta.

Immediately following the initial collision, a westbound 1999 Honda Civic driven by an 18-year-old woman from Blind Bay was unable to stop and crashed into the accident scene.

The driver of the Dodge was taken by air ambulance to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, the driver of the Sierra was taken to Kamloops by ground ambulance and the driver and passenger of the Civic were taken to Shuswap Lake General Hospital with minor injuries.

The highway was closed for approximately two hours, re-opening to traffic at 5:40 p.m.
