It will be easier to get approval for a burn with the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen’s new burning bylaw.

A new version of the bylaw was adopted during the Sept. 17 board meeting.

In addition to a more streamlined process for requesting approval for a burn, the new bylaw added the Anarchist Mountain Volunteer Fire department to the list of fire departments.

The bylaw expanded the list of prohibited burning materials to be consistent with regulations on open burning smoke control and waste management.

The new burning application is available online through the regional district’s website at www.rdos.bc.ca.
