Next week is Penticton’s last unlimited yard waste collection period of 2021

Residents are asked to put out their yard waste from Dec. 6-10

If Penticton residents are hoping to unload an unlimited amount of yard waste, next week is the last one to do so in 2021.

The City of Penticton announced on Wednesday that the week of Dec. 6-10 will be the final unlimited yard waste collection period of 2021.

Residents receiving curbside waste collection will be allowed to put out paper bags or containers that only have yard waste inside during the five-day period. The city is asking people not to use small buckets.

“Additional yard waste must be placed in kraft paper bags or reusable containers marked as ‘yard waste,’ ” the city said in a statement. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be accepted.

From Dec. 6-10, residents are asked to place their yard waste at the usual collection point at 7 a.m.

If your additional yard waste is not collected, leave it at your collection point as a second truck may be required to pick it up.

The first unlimited yard waste collection period in 2022 is slated to run from Feb. 28- March 4.
