For the second time in three years a hockey great will be special guest, this time at the sixth annual Wildstone Colours4Kids fun run on June 9.

Scott Niedermayer, whose team jerseys have been retired by not one but two National Hockey League clubs (as well as the Western Hockey League Kamloops Blazers) will join the participants.

Niedermayer and his family, including son Josh who played part of last season with the BCHL Penticton Vees, recently moved to Penticton from California.

In 2017 it was the Chicago Black Hawks star defenceman and off-season Penticton resident Duncan Keith who made an appearance, signed some autographs and provided some hockey gear to be auctioned off.

According organizer Julie Read, Niedermayer will be doing the same for his many fans at the annual fundraiser for the OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre this June.

The former player with the New Jersey Devils and most recently the Anaheim Ducks had his number 27 jersey retired in the California city last season.

Along with he and his family, members of the Penticton Minor Hockey Association’s atom development also got to see the ceremony and play in a tournament there.
