Fortunately no one was seriously injured after a car driven by an 82-year-old Summerland woman crashed into A & K Grimm's Sausage market Saturday.
According to Sgt. Rick Dellebuur of the Penticton RCMP, the incident happened about 2:15 p.m. when the female mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, went over the parking curb, and into the Eckhardt Ave. West business.
Kelly Grimm, who was inside the store at the time, said he heard a loud noise and immediately called an ambulance.
"I didn't even realize what happened (car having struck the building) I just looked out into the front of the store and saw all our goods lying all over the floor and one guy was underneath the pile but he was just shaken up," said Grimm. "There were six people in the store at the time, three customers and three staff.
"This time of year, luckily it's a little quieter because there could have been 10 people standing out there."
Police estimate the damage to be about $10,000. The woman was not charged.
