Police found much more than they expected after they were called to a noisy party on Saturday night.

At 11:24 p.m., the Penticton RCMP received a report of a noisy party at the Highland Motel located at 1140 Burnaby Ave. When police arrived, they spotted a sawed-off shotgun inside the room. Three people were arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon, one of whom was found to have outstanding warrants.

A subsequent search of the motel room resulted in the seizure of other weapons, a large quantity of MDMA (Ecstasy) along with other illicit and prescription drugs, cash, a stolen bicycle, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

A 35-year-old Penticton man was released without charges while a 33-year-old Penticton woman was held on the strength of an unrelated warrant for her arrest.

Darcy Emil LENKO, 50, has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm contrary to order, possession of a firearm with altered serial number, possession of stolen property, and possession for the purpose of trafficking. He has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26.
